As the date for Rainford’s second Summer Festival approaches, we catch up with the organisers to find out just what is in store for the fun packed day on Saturday July 12th from 11am to 7pm.
The festival which takes place at the High School site promises to be one of the highlights of this season’s summer calendar. With new attractions being announced daily the event looks set to be a fantastic day out for the whole family.
Visitors can expect a whole host of foodie treats, from a traditional hog-roast to gourmet burgers, musical afternoon tea club and even hands on cookery sessions for all the family (email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place). The Under 18’s Buzz Bar will be providing a range of beverages and there will be traditional sweets and cakes to enjoy or take home.
A lively artisan market showcasing crafts from across the region along with live performances from local bands, comedians, magicians, contemporary dancers and Rainford High students will be happening across the day on the ‘WISH FM’ and ‘Rainford Junction Acoustic’ stages. Catering for every musical taste from the carnival experience of Samba, to inspirational choir singing, exciting Ukulele, Brass, Rock, Jazz and Indie bands there’s sure to be something for everyone. A family fun-fair, donkey rides, bouncy castles, face painting and range of sporting activities (golf, football, tennis, table tennis) and even rocket launching from Rainford High Science department will help to entertain visitors of all ages.
More unusual attractions such as riding on the ever popular Segways, racing in inflatable Zorbs, experiencing vintage vehicles from St.Helens Transport museum, enjoying stories from Rainford High English students, watching dog displays, metal detecting for buried treasure and getting messy with painting workshops mean there will be lots of hands on activities to get involved with too.
Rainford High Principal Ian Young said the whole school is getting behind the event, ‘There is a real buzz about the festival in school and across the village. We are delighted that so many local Rainford businesses have come on board to support the event. It’s a great way of showcasing our amazing school and our neighbours here in the village and we look forward to welcoming all our new visitors on the day.’
