Rebecca Carpenter from Can Cook Studio said “We are really happy to be a part of the Rainford Summer Festival this year – and can’t wait to get everyone cooking along with our talented Chefs. This year our training focus has been on reducing Food Waste and creating delicious meals on a budget – something all individuals and families can benefit from. Our Chefs have come up with some really inventive dishes that taste great and are really easy to make and we can’t wait to share them with visitors to the Festival. ”
Love Food Hate Waste campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste and help us take action. It shows that by doing some easy practical everyday things in the home we can all waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too. By helping people to save money and avoid food waste, it’s a win-win situation for everyone!
Warren Aspinall, Director of North West Waste Consultants said “We are delighted to be a part of such a great event and we are looking forward to working with Rainford High School to ensure that the festival is a massive success. It is a brilliant opportunity to join in with the Love Food, Hate Waste campaign by raising awareness of the need to reduce food waste. The amount of food that is thrown away in the UK on a daily basis amounts to thousands of tonnes and is a huge cost to households and businesses alike. By making people aware of how much they can save through campaigns such as Love Food, Hate Waste it can only be good for our pockets and the environment. We look forward to seeing you on the 12th July for a fantastic day out for all the family!”
Principal Ian Young said “It’s great to have local support for the event again this year. This campaign is about making a difference at home by looking after the environment but also about eating a healthier diet. The opportunity to learn tricks and tips from professional chefs that we can use at home should make for a great part of the day.”
