Apprenticeship Event

Dear parent / carer,

I am delighted to be able to offer you the opportunity to come and hear from a guest speaker about the world of Post 16 and Post 18 apprenticeships that will be available for your son/daughter when they choose to move on from Rainford High.

Jan Agger from ASK (Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for schools and colleges) is an extremely knowledgeable and informative speaker in the world of apprenticeships, and with so many exciting prospects in this field, we felt you may benefit from some advice to best support your child’s decision at home.

Apprenticeships are on the increase and becoming more attractive and competitive to our students, especially due to the financial implications of going to university. Understanding the difference between apprenticeships and how to apply can be a tricky road to navigate, so we hope this session will help. Students will have received their own version from ASK by this date as well.

The session will run from 6.00-6.45pm on Wednesday 16th January.

You can also download an ‘Apprenticeships Parents Pack’ (compiled by the National Apprenticeship Service) from the ‘Student and Parent’ tab on the Rainford Sixth Form website (www.rainfordsixthform.org.uk).

Following the letter that you should have received in December about the ‘parent log in’ for Unifrog, do be reminded that you can access apprenticeship information here too. The Unifrog platform updates Post 16 and Post 18 apprenticeships from all areas of the UK every 24 hours, so is an ideal place to start looking.

We do hope to see you at this event. Please ask your child to return the slip below to their Key Stage office by Friday 11th January if you would like to attend. Students do not need to accompany you.

Kind regards,

Catherine Benbow

Director of Sixth Form
