Using correct spelling is important in all subjects, not just in English. GCSE examinations sat from 2018 onwards will have an explicit SPaG component, meaning that marks will be awarded or deducted for the correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. To help pupils to improve and consolidate correct spelling in all subjects, each Curriculum Area has devised a key words list which has been brought together in the Key Stage 3 key terms document here. Pupils will be regularly tested on their knowledge of these key words in lessons and fun and competitive form-time spelling bees will be introduced to ensure that all pupils are routinely learning the spelling of these key word
