Dear Parents/Carers –
In response to feedback from families about bus services to and from school, we have again been in contact with Merseytravel to convey observations about capacity on buses. Please be reassured that school will continue to manage the waiting, queueing and access to buses after school, but the driver manages decisions relating to capacity on the school buses, and Merseytravel refer to this in their response below:
Rainford High School has four afternoon journeys that serve the Eccleston area: 791, 792, 793 & 794. As with any bus service the vehicles should not carry a greater number of passengers than the maximum capacity stated on the plate at the front of the vehicle, and it’s the driver’s responsibility to ensure the vehicle is not overloaded.
Our boarding data suggests that there is sufficient capacity across the four services mentioned above, so if one in particular is full then pupils should be aware of the alternative trips available to them. Attached is a copy of the timetable booklet that shows all supported bus services to and from Rainford High, and also a copy of the 38B timetable booklet, as this is an additional alternative that will take pupils from Hydes Brow to Bleak Hill Road and Kiln Lane.
Both of these can be found on the Merseytravel website:

Any questions from parents/pupils should be directed to https://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/about-us/Pages/Contact-Us.aspx where people can contact Merseytravel via email, calling the contact center or by other means explained on the website.
School will continue to monitor and support students’ travel to and from school, and work with those services that provide transport. Copies of the bus timetables that serve our school are found on the website under About Us/Daily Life/School Buses.
Yours Faithfully,
Ian Murphy
