Rainford High Governors

Jane Sebastian

Jane has worked in the education sector for over 20 years, working with children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. She has managed KS1 and EYFS and is part of the SLT team, with a responsibility in Literacy, communication and language, and phonics. Jane is a Lancashire Language Lead raising standards in early communication.

Her experience includes working with children with a wide range of SEND, particularly within the autistic spectrum and she has a specific interest in learning differences that affect reading and writing.

Jane has an existing governing role at a local primary school, where she has responsibility for Pupil Premium and is Chair of the curriculum committee. As part of this role Jane has much experience of the recruitment of staff across the school.

Rebecca Stafford

Rebecca has had 17 years experience in Secondary education teaching and leading mathematics in a variety of schools across a range of contexts including faith schools and challenging schools in deprived areas. 

Rebecca has had success in raising the achievement of students of all abilities through key stages 3, 4 and 5 including students with SEND and has a particular strength working with students with SEMH needs. 

Rebecca currently works as an Assistant Headteacher at a school in a large multi academy trust with a responsibility for Data, Assessment and Progress of students. She is passionate about the education of young people and thinks that every student should be supported to be able to succeed. 

Claire Codling

Claire has worked in Education and Finance in St Helens and Lancashire over the past 22 years in Business, Management and Finance roles. During this time she has developed skills in Coaching and Mentoring, Business Support and achieved a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA). She has a proven track record of supporting Schools and Early Years providers in the Private, Voluntary and Independent sectors.

Claire has significant experience in leadership and change management, as well as project management, which has included the implementation and delivery of funding for the creation of Early Years places across Lancashire. Claire has worked in partnership with Edge Hill University in developing an accredited training programme in Business and Finance for Early Years and Childcare and is keen to support the development of the school’s workforce, including being a mock interviewer for students at Edge Hill University.

Claire has a significant amount of experience of working with Governing Boards, currently an active member on a local Primary School Board, St Helens Governors Forum and is Chair of the Special School Business Manager’s Board in Lancashire.
