It was a magical evening at this year’s educate awards. Two of our fantastic department were up for an award; SEND Provision and Outstanding Commitment to Sport. Dressed in all our finest, we were treated to a wonderful evening of food and entertainment in, what can only be described as, the most spectacular of venues at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.
As the night went on, the nerves began. Could we be in with a chance of winning? Looking at the tough competition from a range of fantastic schools, we dared to hope. First up, was our SEN department for their SEND Provision award. SENCO Joanne Burgess commented that her, ‘team work so hard and are so dedicated to their students, each and every day, that a win for them would be a fantastic reward for all that they do.’ Well, Jo’s wish came true and the room erupted into cheers when they were announced as the winners. Never a happier group of people could be seen running to the stage to collect their award, which was so deservedly won.
Next up, was Outstanding Commitment to Sport; something which no one could argue our PE department display each and every day, both within classes and the extra-curricular provision that they provide for our students. Unfortunately, we could not make this a 6th win. But, second place in what was a highly competitive field, is still cause for celebration and again shows that the hard work of our staff was recognised by the judging panel.
We spent the remainder of the evening celebrating the fantastic work by both departments and enjoying the rest of this beautiful event. Thank you to everyone at the Educate Awards for such an amazing evening and we hope to be back again next year to add to our growing cabinet of awards!
