Dear Parent/Carer
Thank you for your ongoing support. Yesterday and today we have had the unprecedented opportunity to have many of our school community tested for COVID 19, in order to have a clear understanding of the spread of the virus in school, due to the support and intervention of Public Health and the Local Authority.
This comes after we have had a further 4 student cases and a member of staff has also tested positive. This has led to a number of students being asked to self isolate in Year 7 and Year 9.
We hope that when reviewing the results of the testing that we have few new cases and are able to carry on as normal, or take appropriate action to reduce infection and improve the safety of the school and wider community. For this to happen if your child receives a positive test result could you inform us by emailing [email protected]
However, it is possible that we have a significant increase in the prevalence of COVID infection in the school community due to asymptomatic cases being identified through the mass testing that has been conducted at the behest of Public Health. Due to the fact results will start to arrive with you over the weekend and we cannot anticipate the outcome it has been decided that the school will be closed on Monday to allow ourselves and Public Health time to analyse the situation and take the most appropriate course of action to keep our school community and wider community safe. Students will be able to access remote learning on Monday in all timetabled lessons via google classroom where this is possible. If you need support with accessing google classroom please follow the link below:

By informing you now of this decision I hope it gives you time to make arrangements for Monday with the least amount of inconvenience possible. We are very sorry for the inconvenience we know this will cause, but leaving this decision until Sunday would not be sensible.. We will update you as soon as possible on Monday afternoon as to the outcome and plans for the school reopening.
Thank you again for your support and understanding as we attempt to manage this challenging and continuously changing situation as well as possible.
Yours sincerely
Mr Ian Young
Principal
