Railway Crossing Safety Warning

Dear Parents/Carers,

Yesterday we were notified that a Rainford student walked onto the Rainford Junction railway tracks and pretended to fall over on the track as the train was approaching. This resulted in a near miss incident and the train driver was removed from the service for the remainder of the day due to the distress this caused and the level of the incident. We are awaiting CCTV footage to see if we can identify the student.

From research this is a new trend on the social media site TikTok.

I am sure you are equally as disturbed reading this as I was then I received the call late yesterday from Northern Rail.

We will be discussing this in form time today with students to highlight the dangers and consequences of these choices. If you have any information this incident or similar incidents involving our students then please email me at [email protected].

Please can you discuss this with your children tonight to reinforce the messages around the dangers of this and the impact these ‘pranks’ have on the drivers.

Additionally, I have been made aware that there is a video circulating on Tik Tok of a female teenager being beheaded so please can you monitor what your children are viewing online and contact school if you need any additional support.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Kind regards,
Mr Kenyon
