Dear Parents/Carers
Just a short email to thank you for your support and commitment to our community so far this academic year. Although we have faced a number of challenges including a short notice school closure there have been many successes.
As a school we have shown our commitment to Everyone Matters with the brilliant support and response to the returning Christmas Fayre that raised more than four thousand pounds for charity. I am also very proud of the way our community’s attendance at school has continued to return close to pre Covid levels and the enthusiasm that the 5 day challenge has been shown by parents and students.
We have lived Everyone Helps through the support of the Christmas Fayre but also our Food Bank Friday appeals. A massive thank you for the support students and families have shown that has meant we have been able to support our wider community with a number of minibuses of donations to local foodbanks.
Finally a thank you for supporting our focus on Everyone Succeeds by supporting us on insisting our students work hard. Year 13 and Year 11 have and are taking their mock examinations and begin the final run into their public exams. The journey is one of progress and development but for many it will not be a smooth journey it will be one full of challenges and the need for resilience to over come set backs in order to achieve their full potential.
As a school we won the Most Inspirational Secondary School 2022 at the Educate Awards in November this is due to the fact as a community we strive to make it better for our students and wider community. The school team works hard to deliver a great curriculum well taught in an inclusive and supportive environment with a range of enriching opportunities for our young people to take part in such as Duke of Edinburgh Award, trips to Barcelona and Skiing as well as sport and performance opportunities. As well as adding to the community in a wider sense through our food bank and other charity work.
As Muhammad Ali put it “The Service you do for others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” and as we start a New Year it is worth celebrating what we do together as a community to make it better for each other.
Happy New Year and successful and prosperous 2023.
