Educational visits are an important part of school life, and student participation is strongly encouraged at Rainford High.
We believe that every student should have access to a wide range of enriching experiences beyond the classroom. This commitment is underpinned by our school ethos: Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds.
As part of this commitment, we are continuing to develop an educational visits and enrichment programme that offers a variety of activities and experiences at different price points. This approach helps ensure that as many students as possible can benefit from opportunities that support personal development, student engagement, confidence building, curriculum learning and the development of valuable life experiences.
Our programme includes a diverse range of opportunities, including:
· Duke of Edinburgh Award opportunities at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels
· Ski trips and international visits
· Curriculum-focused visits linked to subjects including:
o Music
o Drama
o History
o Geography
o Physical Education
o Religion, Philosophy and Ethics
o English
o Mathematics
o Science
· Enrichment and reward experiences that broaden students’ horizons and aspirations
To ensure all visits are conducted as safely as possible, Rainford High has comprehensive policies, procedures and guidance that support staff when planning and organising educational visits.
The school also has a dedicated Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) who oversees the planning and approval process. The EVC helps ensure that Rainford High fulfils its duty of care to students, that all visits are appropriately risk assessed, and that health and safety requirements are fully met.
Examples of educational visits available to students include:

· Places of educational interest (museums, farms, historical and geographical sites)
· Visits to other educational establishments
· Enrichment and reward trips
· Evening visits (theatres, cinemas and music venues)
· Residential centres and educational courses
· Outdoor activity and adventure experiences
· Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and programmes
· International visits that provide cultural, educational and personal development opportunities
Recent overseas trips have included visits to Spain, France, Iceland and Kenya providing students with valuable opportunities to develop independence, cultural awareness and lifelong memories.
