A Week of Celebration

Last week was a highlight in our school calendar where we came together to celebrate some of the best and brightest of our school. Over the course of the week, we had rewards events for years 7,8,9,10 and 12 as well as our Sports Presentation Evening.

Our rewards events celebrated not just the brightest but also the hardest working and most dedicated students from each year group. The staff who were presenting the awards could not have spoken more highly of the students who had been nominated with words such as “talented”, “courteous”, “resilient” and “brilliant” being heard time and time again.

With inspirational speeches from our 6th former Jared De Waal, performing arts entrepreneur Jaime Leigh Christan and LBGTQ+ ambassador Christian Owens, our students were reminded that with great heart, focus and a belief in themselves, success is within their reach.

We were also treated to a myriad of performances from our wonderful Dance group as well as musical performances from Amy Johnson, Jamie Leahey and Laura Hibbert. Who all demonstrated such wonderful talents and showcased the best of what Rainford has to offer.

The final rewards event of the week was our Sports presentation evening where we were honoured to have a number of ex students who now have spectacular careers in sports in attendance. Firstly, Connor Cody of Wolverhampton Wonderers who generously donated a signed shirt for auction to raise funds for the PE department. We also had Saints Johnny Lomax and Lancashire Thunder’s Ellie Threlkeld coming back to inspire our young people to follow their sporting dreams. A number of sports ties were given out at the event celebrating students that have excelled in their chosen sport this year.

It really was a week of celebrating our wonderful students and those that have encapsulated our school ethos of Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps, Everyone Succeeds.
