With the annual COP climate conference (COP30) being held in Belem, Brazil in November. Rainford High hosted its annual Mock UN Climate conference for students and local Primaries.
In total 9 schools joined the conference, representing different countries around the world and outlining how climate change was affecting them and what they are doing to try and cope with the effects and reduce their contributions to the problem. The delegates had the opportunity to address the assembly, vote on motions and question other countries about their climate action in a structured debate, some making compelling arguments for the need for stronger and unified action on climate change.
In the afternoon the delegates worked with students from Rainford’s Climate Action Group to identify a range of environmental problems and solutions and formulated climate action plans to implement in their schools
It was an incredible day of positivity, inspiration and unity for action on climate change, empowering young people to use their voice in politics and make positive changes for all our futures.
