Letter to Parents 19.4

Dear Parent/Carer,

I trust that you and your family have had an enjoyable Easter break. We are looking forward to completing this academic term and year for everyone in a successful manner. To achieve this it will mean that the whole school community will need to support the school ethos of Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps and Everyone Succeeds.

As a school we will be supporting our students in Year 11 and Year 13 in external examinations for the first time since 2019 and we wish them every success as they approach this crucial period of their education having endured such uncertainty and disruption to their school experience. This makes our focus on ensuring a fully committed approach from all members of our community all the more important.

I would therefore like to thank the vast majority of students and parents for their support in helping to meet the school’s expectations and highlight the importance of us working together to achieve a calm, orderly and hard working school that supports everyone in achieving their full potential.

The basic expectations mean that all students should attend in full school uniform, be on time for school and all lessons within the school day. As a school we will look to ensure that every student is supported to be fully equipped, ready to work and to attend school in the correct manner so they will be able to focus on working hard and trying their best in lessons.

As we move back to a more normal way of working and living with Covid 19 it is important that we re-establish successful, supportive, and sustainable ways of working that ensure our young people are equipped to be successful both within and beyond our school community. This means we will be challenging poor attendance and behaviour in a robust, supportive, and effective manner that we have always taken to ensure we are an inclusive and safe environment for all members of our community.

The latest government guidance regarding Covid 19 is for students under 18 who have potential symptoms of Covid to isolate for three days and then return to school once the temperature has gone. As a school we will continue to support students by maintaining online lesson resources to ensure students can catch up and continue to study if absent from school.

We are looking forward to a hard working and successful term for everyone in our school community.

Kind regards

Ian Young
