Letter to Parents 24/09

Dear Parent/Care

Thank you for your support since we returned to school 15 days ago.  This is a brief update around covid. Although we are experience relatively low numbers, about 15 ongoing cases each day, we are seeing a small increase in numbers. So after consulting with Public Health England we have been asked to reintroduce some measures to help everyone to stay safe.

I will be asking staff and students to wear face masks in the corridors and whilst students queue in the canteen at break and lunchtime. We will also be asking students to wear masks on school buses. If I could ask that visitors to the school site also wear masks in the communal areas that would be greatly appreciated.

We would also ask that you continue to test your child twice a week for covid using a lateral flow test. If your child does test positive after a symptom free lateral flow test, you should not send your child into school. You should also look to book a PCR test for your child to confirm the result. When booking online please state you have been advised by your local council to book the test.

In addition you should not send your child in to school if they are unwell with any of the Covid symptoms

• a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

• a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

• a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Thank you again for your efforts and helping to keep all our children safe and the school open.

Kind regards

Ian Young
Principal
