The Year 8 Boys Rugby League team followed up their recent achievement of reaching the Champion Schools National Semi-Final (to be played in May) by being crowned North West Schools Champions following 30-6 victory over St Mary’s, Leigh in the North West Schools Final, played at Wigan’s Robin Park Sports Arena.
In treacherous weather conditions the boys displayed a great deal of desire, determination and resilience in order to earn their victory over their hard working opponents. Despite the awful conditions the boys attempted to play their usual brand of attacking rugby combined with committed defence which earned them plenty of plaudits from a wet but very appreciative crowd.
The RFL’s Man of the Match award was awarded to Jacob Gordon-Smith in recognition of his four try haul. Well done Jacob! However, their efforts continue to be true team efforts and now they look towards the upcoming National Semi-Final and up-coming St Helens Cup Quarter-Final to see if they can further their on-going success.
A huge well done to all involved!
