Transition Updates

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached documents regarding the opening of school in September. The documents you have are:

1) A letter from Mr Young regarding opening school  – School Reopening Letter

2) Student expectations to support our community – Student Expectations

3) Parent expectations to support our community – Parent Expectations

The documents have been sent to all of our school community. We also have a video showing the school and how it will operate in September that will be released on Friday 28th August. You will receive an email about this.

We are looking forward to meeting your children next Friday (Friday 4th September) for our new Year 7 transition morning, which is taking place from 8:30 – 12:30pm.

Below gives you the key details for the transition morning, as outlined in a letter in July.

Transition morning details – Friday 4th September:

As explained on the transition video that was released on Friday 10th July on our school website www.rainford.org.uk/transition, we are inviting Year 6 students to join us on Friday 4th September, before the term starts.  This will enable your child to meet their tutor, have a tour around the school and learn about how Rainford works in preparation for the term start date of Monday 7th September.

If you haven’t watched out guided tour of Rainford then go to www.rainford.org.uk/transition and watch the tour before your arrive to help you. This isn’t a requirement but would help you prepare for our real tour on the day.

The key details are:

The transition morning will take place from 8:50-12:30pm at school, with students arriving to school from 8:30am.

School transport is not running as it is before the start of term, therefore students will need to make their own way to and from school.  They will be allowed on site from 8:30am and they will leave at 12:30pm. They need to arrive at the front of school and walk to the entrance where they will be greeted by members of the senior leadership team. They will depart in the same way as they arrived. The morning will start with an assembly and they will then go to their forms.

Students are required to wear their full school uniform.

Students are required to bring a pen, pencil, ruler, scientific calculator, red pen, glue stick, mini whiteboard, whiteboard pen and a wiper, which is our required daily equipment.

Students will need to bring their own snacks for break time as the canteen will not be operating. We will be ending the event at lunch time, so no lunch is provided.

If your child has any medication then parents need to come to front of school to a medical station, which will be set up for this purpose, and the medication will be signed into school.

Please be aware that due to the current Covid-19 situation we are asking parents not to come on site on this morning.  We look forward to you dropping your child off on their first day but we are unable to accommodate parents on school site as this may lead to too many people in the same area. Therefore, parents are invited to drop off their child and then depart when their child has entered school. If you have any  concerns that need bringing to our attention, then please approach a member of the senior leadership team at the front of school, who will be happy to help.

If your child is nervous then please reassure them that this is completely normal and the purpose of the transition morning to help everyone get to know Rainford before the term starts on Monday 7th September.

If you have any queries about this morning then please email [email protected]

Kind regards,
Mr Kenyon
